SkiKids take over Zau[:ber:]g Semmering

SkiKIDS Aktion 09

Local children ruled the ski slopes at Semmering this weekend as it held the annual SkiKids event. The event on Saturday and Sunday saw 90 local kids get two days of free ski and board tuition from professional instructors at the Ski School Semmering as part of the SkiKids initiative created by Lower Austrian provincial government member Petra Bohuslav.

The kids aged between 6-10 were very enthusiastic and visibly enjoyed the snow fun at Semmering, having great fun and taking their first turns on the well groomed slopes.

In addition all participants were given a helmet and a Semmering season pass so they can continue to practice on the slopes throughout the season. Petra Bohuslav said: "This is an important additional part of the promotion because skiing equipment is very expensive for parents to fork out for." She added: "We want to get the kids enthusiastic about winter sports from an early age. We want to encourage them to exercise more during the winter months. If they learn now they will be able to participate in winter sports in later life. The earlier you start skiing or snowboarding, the better and safer you will be."
